Accelerate UP is a nonprofit organization which offers free and confidential business coaching within Marquette County. We are a group of over sixty volunteers from all over the county who care passionately about the success and sustainability of our region. We formed in order to assist entrepreneurs in creating, expanding, and maintaining their business ventures.
Marquette’s DDA has done a great job for the area over the last 20 years. They focus on economic changes taking place in the downtown district; long-range planning for the downtown area; land acquisition and improvement; building construction, improvement, rehabilitation, maintenance and operation; and construction and maintenance of public facilities. They also work diligently on downtown programming like the Farmers Market, the U.P. 200 and many more.
The LSCP’s mission is to stimulate and sustain a vibrant regional economy by facilitating economic growth and prosperity. They do this by providing a wide variety of free and effective development services for businesses and municipalities, making connections between businesses, organizations, leaders and legislators and providing a powerful legislative voice, advocating for programs and policies that strengthen our regional economy.
The Michigan Works! System is open to everyone for information gathering, local and state labor market information, and self-serve career information. The system is designed to help employers find the skilled workers they need, and to help job seekers find good jobs that provide economic self-sufficiency.
Northern Initiatives is a Community Development Financial Institution. They provide loans and business services to small business owners and entrepreneurs who create jobs and enable the communities of Northern rural Michigan and neighboring Wisconsin to thrive.
Cuppadserves Alger, Delta, Dickinson, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcraft Counties, Cities, Townships, and Villages in providing general planning support in the areas of: grant writing, community surveys, land use planning, recreation planning, economic and community development, transportation, hazard mitigation planning, mapping services, and providing demographics information and more.
Invent@NMU is a super creative, highly energetic contract design and commercialization house. They focus on providing NMU students with real-world experiences and bringing physical products from concept to market for people who possess innovative product ideas, but lack the experience and/or the resources to execute.
40 Below: Marquette County Young Professionals was created by the Lake Superior Community Partnership in 2010 as a professional development organization designed to introduce and engage young professionals to the County’s business community and help them expand their networking opportunities.
